Meet the SCVA at the Intelligentsia Cup this weekend!

This Saturday SCVA is going to be at the South Chicago Bike Race, new this year to the Intelligentsia Cup. The cup was founded in 2012 as the Prairie State Cycling Series and brings competitive bike racing to the Chicago Metro area. It’s going to be a day full of pro and amateur racing, and the SCVA will be present at the South Chicago Velodrome to field questions on the track, help support the riders with minor adjustments, and provide refreshments along with an opportunity to pick up official SCVA gear! All donations and proceeds from sales at our table will benefit the ongoing effort to save the track, so come by and support the cause.

In addition to all of the racing Slow Roll Chicago will be departing from the velodrome at S. Burley Ave. and 87th street at 2:30pm for a ride through the southeast side. Slow Roll Chicago is a community-based organization utilizing bicycles to connect a diverse group of people, transform lives, and improve the condition of communities by organizing community bicycle rides and other bicycling-related programs throughout the greater Chicago area. It’s a great opportunity to see the beauty of the southeast side of Chicago, and returns in time to catch the professionals competing later in the day.

It’s shaping up to be a fun filled day, and SCVA is excited to be a part of it. We hope you can join us and take part in all the great events. Special thanks to Ald. Susan Sadlowski Garza for sponsoring the event and helping to bring attention to Chicago as a great venue for cycling of all stripes!
