Sunday at the Track, Weekend News and the Fundraising Trail.
The South Chicago Velodrome saw numerous new friends show up to help clean and repair the track today.
As seen in the photo cropping above- we’re washing the track (new-looking surface near orange buckets) and it’s looking great. Not all of the maintenance requires being comfortable with power tools or complex procedures. In the end- we can all sit around the grill and share a meal together.
Speaking of which- tomorrow, Sunday Aug. 16th, Tim and Mike will be at the track again (87th St. a couple blocks West of the Lake Front Path). You’re invited to stop by any time and we’ll have the gate open 10am-4pm. If we have enough helpers commit, we’ll bring food for the grill- please notify …
Our Junior Mechanics program runs Sunday 12-3 as well, all youth 13-18 are invited to participate.
Lastly, our funding needs continue. Even though we don’t have 100% functionality to the velodrome yet, we’re working hard to realize this facility for the greater community. We’ve paid about 1/3 of the track’s cost and we’re trying to raise enough to make the fourth payment. Please consider contributing a little here toward this month’s nut today; every amount is appreciated and your gift can be credited toward track time if you chose. Thank you.
We’ll be having a fundraising-based meeting in a few days; please email for early details.
