MORE INFORMATION ON THE TRACK
In July of 2011 Chicago was lucky enough to have a track built on its south side that is in danger of being lost. South Chicago Velodrome Association (SCVA) is a non-profit and community driven organization, formed in order to save the velodrome. It provides opportunities for the community to expand their access to the sport and seeks to collaborate with other organizations to grow track cycling in Chicago. Since the organization’s inception it has raised over 50,000 dollars towards purchase of the track, secured a lease for the property, and begun necessary repairs to the surface. In 2016 we’re planning a full slate of racing programs, clinics, and community focused activities. These include mechanical training for youth in the neighborhood, safe riding programs, and educational programs in cooperation with local schools.
